I was invited to participate in a fun and unusual exercise; analysing the staff and management on the TV show The Office from any HR Consultant’s perspective. I had to brush up on my knowledge of the show and the characters, but for any of you who are even casual viewers, you can imagine the challenge.
The humor on this show is due to it’s disfunction, but in an interesting way, that same disfunction is responsible for the success of the company. This wacky group turns out to have some interpersonal strengths that actually transend the lunacy and it makes for a wonderful and surprisingly educational HR opportunity.
